Default Removing Power steering... andy??

Thoughts?

Andy is the only person i know of that ran no PS, upsides/downsides?

My next car shall be as light as i can get it, plus it makes my life easier in other area's...
I know i will have to be able to run another pulley for the alternator, but i can still prob run without that if i get a shorter belt and use the alternator adjustment.
Suppose i am looking more for the Pro's/Cons of the lack of PS..

Please discuss people

Rob

i would keep the ps myself.probable weight saving of 5 kilos max.there are many other areas where you can loose weight from the car, especially if you strip the car to a shell(been there, got the t shirt etc!)

Lol i see a trend here

On my last car i relocated the res, i am however trying a different FMIC route on this car and could do with the outlet from turbo to come straight out and towards front of car (under manifold). This is where the prob starts.

I have a quote for some hydraulic pipes, looks like i will be relocating the whole pump.

Cheers

A car that is designed to run with PS tends to have a larger amount of castor, which improves self centering and general feel but can make the car tramline.

I take it you would remove the PS unit and put in a none PS rack (which does not have the compliance bit to open the ports to drive the rack, which would improve feel slightly, if they can be got that is), then have the geo changed ?, This might work,

Personally I would prefer no PS when driving quickly as in my old MR2 and my dads classic 911, it generally feels better. Most modern cars though are set up for it, just try coasting down hill with the engine off if you want to see how bad it would be and parking would be a nightmare without it with todays fat tyres.
