Question Anyone care to diagnose my car symptoms?

Here it is:

1. When starting car - very slow turn over before it fires.
2. Idle sits at varying levels between 750 and 1100 stationary (doesnt hunt, just sits at different levels each time I stop for lights etc.)
3. Headlights are dim then go bright after a second when starting up - only when powering up.

All 'Subaru medical staff', be you a porter to a consultant please assist. This patient will be strangled soon if the root cause is not found.

I'm no medical expert, but i'd say this all sounds like it might be normal to me.

1. Scoobies can take a couple of ticks to fire up. If you are having other problems then please explain in a bit more detail.

2. Idle on mine (MY00) is over 1100 when starting and then when the engine is warm the idle is about 780. This is the ECU doing its stuff to keep the engine functioning optimally while its warming up.

3. Do you have a new car with High Intensity Discharge lights? I have HIDs on mine and they take about 1-2 seconds of a weaker yellow colour before they go full brightness and brilliant white.

However if your problems are more pronounced than above and you have eliminated those possibilities then it is likely there is some kind of electrical fault which could be anything from faulty wiring or shorting, to poor earthing.
