Question Work This Out!?!?!

got 93 wrx
new blitz plugs .7 gap
scooby ecu chip by scott t - ECU is Z4
K&N Induction
Decat system
A OK MAF

Car running on shell optimax, running really rough, worse when cold.
Expected coil packs. orederd new 1's on there way.
HOWEVER
Put sainsbury's super unleaded in 97 ron & nitrox booster, car no longer stutters or runs rough. Thought the scooby ecu was to be able to run on 97/98 ron fuel alone?
OR
did the nitrox just make the fuel easier to burn for the weaker spark to ignite?

Any ideas anyone!?

Timmy

I had bad tank of optimax last week with same probs.
Filled up from different garage and the babies back
to full power.
Looks like less busy garages may have Optimax in
the tanks longer, maybe goes off abit?

Just shows how much difference it makes!

Timmy
Had same with mine, and did same new plugs and packs
cured it- mine were cracked across the top off the rubber.

With all this wet weather when mine feels off boil,
I take the air filter off, take the coil packs out and give them a quick
squirt with a damp start type aerosol, and all other electrical type
conectors.Clean boost solenoid whilst at it.

It defo helps and only takes 1/2 hour.

also how long have your plugs been in? Mine lasted 1500miles
due to octane booster contamination, do you need it with scooby ecu?

My last plugs were NGK 7's put NGK 6's this time and the car is far better!

Hope you get it sorted I know hao it can do your head in.

Guys...

Point me in the direction of the coil packs please!!! I've wondered about mine for a while now, and if it's that easy to check/clean them ... then I'll give it a go!

J.

You need to take airbox / maf unit off.2 bolts- bit hard to
get at need about 2 extensions on your socket.

there you will see the 2 bolt heads holding the coil packs inplace
just undo them and pull the coil pack out.
Check for cracks in the bakerlite black plastic near to the
ruber ends. Check that the springs inside move freely.
use some damp start type spray.

On the other side undo the washer bottle, disconect its power
and move to one side - hose still connected.
do same to coil packs. Check plugs at same time if needed.

When you put the coil packs back in they are a bit fiddly
to get the plug located. after a few goes you can do this simple
service very quickly.

You can also undo the connectors that attach the coil packs
and use same spray.

Hope it's easy to follow.
