Default ECU reset on MY98 UK turbo

My car had the ECU pinched. I've ordered a new one from Central Subaru, and it should be arriving on Saturday. Is it just a matter of plugging the yellow plugs and off I go, or do I need to reset? Is there a guide to doing so? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You will need the immobiliser setting up for your keys. You will need a select monitor for this.

My key doesn't have the immobiliser. Clifford keyfob has that, tapped into the central locking as well, which works without the ECU.

Do you know what to do as for the reset itself?

Have you bypassed the OEM Immobilser then?

The new ECU will be reset as it has been disconnected for so long.

OK. So it's a matter of plug in and go? Would be nice!

Just fitted it. It misfires for a few seconds, and it cuts out. Spoke to Central Subaru who sold it to me saying it won't need a reset, now tells me that it needs to be re-coded by Subaru. Are they not talking about a ECU reset, or is it something else? Is there a way of doing it DIY?

I refer you to my first post.

Car splutters because the fuel pump is not running. The fuel pump is not running because the immobiliser is active. The immobiliser is active because you haven't had the ECU reprogrammed for your keys.

You've probably got a CEL also, if you run a diagnostic you'll probably find it's reporting a fuel pump error.

Right... my dealer hasn't come back to me with the price for this yet. Any ideas on the costs?
