Default Sway bars, pre and post MY00?

Guys, I have a JDM Forester I want a thicker rear swaybar in( the stock is very thin, 13mm i think), and I know the swaybars from the Classic shape will go in. But theres really never any subie bits in the local aftermarket (caribbean). I've come across a guy selling out a few chopped STi's (01 and 03) and can get a rear swaybar from these, my question is, if these swaybar/mountings between classic and bugeye are not completly interchangeable, what are the differences? Is there an issue that i can overcome altering the bushing mounts or links?

Also what would be bugeye STI swaybar thicknesses? Im thinking 22mm front 20mm rear? 22mm rear?

Smile Sway Bar

Mountings are the same, I run a rear Whiteline 22mm bar with Heavy Duty mounts and solid links. I only have soild links on the front and steering is just fine. I will take some pics and post them for you. I also have a front and rear stut bar. All in all its not far of my old impreza for handling. We have a web site at www.subaruforester.com, very good and full of info.

Ok great, I went and got the bar, bushings and stock plastic links off of a 2002 STI bugeye, for all of about 40pounds, i forgot to check if its 22mm or 20mm.
I've just installed it and my impression so far is less understeer and great recovery out of a hard bend. I imagine it can go even stiffer with the metal links. I have the stock bar with whiteline links up front.
Oh, and to add a little gloat, i also got an STI intercooler, with full metal and silicone Y pipe, and mounting brackets, for another 40.. so im delighted, the hoses have the same lineup but the mounting tabs are a couple inches off, and i need to fabricate an adaptor to accomodate my stock bov.

Default BOV

YHM and also change the BOV to a standard impreza, there is no mods required.

In my opinion a 20 mm standard Impreza Turbo rear sway bar is just perfect for the Forester. I drove one with a 22 mm and I think it was too much! Too much oversteer.

Mark.
