this is a very touchy subject, there are those on here who would advise u to stay away from these kits & fit a replacement panel filter, the reason is that there is speculation that the oil contaminates your MAF & therefore leads to a engine failure.

I have fitted to my stiV a K&N 57i, ive had no probs at all, up to now, i believe they allow youre engine better breathing performance V a panel filter, just my opinion, aligned with a full decat & remap, IMO its a good setup, but as i said earlier there are peeps on here with many tales of woe. Its youre choice

Yes i think the Blitz is oil free, but i believe the filtration capability is greatly reduced?? AFAIK the panel filters are dry, some induction kits also cause damage by not fitting very well & vibrating, what MY is your car?

im not sure what type of maf is fitted to that model, the main probs with MAF failure is the hot wire type, if the search was working u could check, maybe someone a bit more knowledgable regarding MAFs can clarify?

That comment is not correct as it stands. As has been said above, there are oily panel filters as well, and these are just as bad from the contamination standpoint as an oily induction kit.

The reason why induction kits (even non-oily ones) are often advised against is firstly because there is next to nothing to gain, secondly because there's a risk of increased vibration damaging the MAF sensor, and thirdly because there's a risk of the altered airflow skewing the MAF readings. MAF sensor inaccuracy, whether caused by oil contamination, vibration damage or other misreading, can result in lean running, which in turn can cause damage to the engine.

TBH Road Rager, you'd be just as well off in performance terms with a good panel filter like Green's, K&N's or the STi part. Less risk involved with these too.
