Hi fellas,
Let me run this by ya,car been brill for ages no prob, then boost drops from usual 15.5 psi to 8psi,tries powering the car a few times, still low boost..on the odd occasion boost returned to normal and all was well.Thought ahhhh..boost solenoid stickin!!No prob, stripped off car and cleaned, refitted and car is the same, took on test for 10 mins, boost at 8 psi and never flickered up at any occasion..This all happened this afternoon, jumped in car to drive home, and after warming up boost was at 8psi for about a mile then all turned to normal and runnig back at 15.5psi,never faultered all the way home[5 miles],,,do we think its just a case of a sticky valve?is there anythin else that could cause this?can ya get a modded version?
Cheers,
Gary

Try cleaning it again by connecting the connectors under the dash these put it into duty cyle and the solenoid will open and close then spray in some wd 40 after this re -set ecu .You could also check your oil level it should be around the half full mark not at the high mark.Hope this helps if you are unsure on which connectors do a search on ecu test/reset and it will tell you always forget myself

Sorry to but in, but what exactly does a 3 port boost solenoid do ?

Are standard solenoids 1 port ?
If one was to fit a 3 port, is it a straight swap, any potential problems, any benfits to running it ?

Many thanks.

orig solenoids are 2 port, 3 port solenoids are used by some mappers as it gives a greater control of boost, it is definately not adviseable to fit a 3 port to an unmapped car
