Hi

Got an STI type UK and am having problems reading the oil dip stick. Thought I was going mad so took it to some friends and they are as stumped as I am. There is oil in there but it shows up as streaks on the stick rather than a true gauge. Does anyone else have this problem ?

No. Brand new oil can be difficult to read as it shows up as colourless against the stick, but even then, if you're starting with the dipstick wiped dry and are only getting "streaks" on it, you're likely to be seeing oil that's dripped off the stick tube rather than what's in the sump itself.

You should see a clearly defined line of oil like any other dipstick. If you're not, add a little oil until you do.
