I'm about to purchase a Jap spec Type R STi.

I understand that these things need octain booster. How much is required per tank, and how expensive is this?

Many Fanx

I havea type r and i use millers octane booster which cost £5.00 but cheaper if you mail order a box of 30, then its £3.00 each. A blootle does a 50 litre tank, I think the type r's are a 40 or 45 litre tank. So preety much a bottle per tank.

TyPe~~R, where do you get your's from?

As regards Optimax, we don't have Shell stations here is it gonna be ok on Sainsbury's home brew?

Am I right in thinking that long term they can be remapped to not require OB? If so is there a power loss associated with this?

I get mine from Motorman stores, but i keep meaning to mail order. I'm not sure about running them on unleaded (normal) because thats about 95 RON where the type r needs about 100-102Ron. I think that BP are doing a higher octane fuel. Unless you doubled the octane booster?
It is possible to have them re mapped for UK fuel but I dont know too much about this. And It would make an impact on your performance if you lowerd the octane ratin.
Do a search for these topics as they are disscussed by many people who probally know more about it that me.

dont run it on 95RON.

use SUL or optimax plus an OB until you have it remapped for UK fuel, and even then its going to need SUL. Fuel tank is 60 litres, you have 8 litre left in the tank when the low level warning light comes one.

One bottle of millers Octane plus per 50 litres should be fine.

Yep, Type R's have a 60 litre tank.
I use about 60mls of NF when the needle reaches a quarter of a tank. If I can't get that then just a bottle of Miller's every fill

Edited to say, thats with Optimax only, BP Ultimate is only 97 Ron according to their website.

Richie, do you by any chance drive a yellow one with an evo spoiler? And where do you get the NF from?
