It is impossible to say exactly how much of a risk you are running - would depend on how hard you drive the car and what petrol you're using if not Opti. In general terms though, yes, there is an increased risk of something unpleasant happening to your engine unless you've had the car remapped to run safely on UK fuel, or constantly use Opti (or another known good SUL) plus the correct amount of a good booster.
Also a very good idea to fit a KnockLink, as at least then your engine will let you know if it's suffering.
