seen a 97 scooby wrx for sale very cheap really nice example but its a bit smokey, now having owned RS Turbos in the past i know this normally means the turbo oil seal are dead, is it still true cos if it is it may be worth buying and sticking a stage 2 turbo in its place?

Can you be certain its simply the turbo?
Could it be piston rings/bores worn.
Normally if a turbo seal goes, "IT GOES" bigtime and emitts clouds of light blue smoke. Unless the price is right money, it may involve an engine rebuild.
