Question

I have a 1993 Impreza WRX STi Grp N Rallycar under construction. The complete interior was removed for Rollcage fitment. On putting it all back together the car has now developed an ECU fault. Having completed a diagnostic check , fault codes 31(throttle position sensor) and 24 (Idle speed control switch) have appeared. The engine idles at about 500rpm and there is no throttle response. I replaced the throttle position sensor, reset the ECU but there was no change. The only problem we had during re-assembly was the rear fuel pump connector shorted when in was contaminated with de-greasant. The connector was replaced and the pump appears to work fine. I have checked all engine bay connectors and they appear intact as do the yellow ECU connectors. Could the shorted fuel pump wires have caused a fault with the ECU? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The fuel pump is switched by a relay and will not have damaged the ecu. Both fault codes relate to the throttle position sensor but its probably not that at all. You need to check the wiring from the sensor back to the ecu pin to pin, sounds as though the loom has been damaged/disturbed, even a bulkhead connector left off. Its not as hard as it sounds, mail off line if you need the ecu pinouts.

Thanks Bob, I have sent an e-mail as the pinouts would help a lot!
