Question

well, I've removed the 'under the vent' plates on mine MY95 UK.
Now the hot air goes out nicely, but is there any danger of any kind of damage to any parts (as water coming in, concentration of hot air on those 2 places)?
And as planing to put on an cone filter, I guess it should be covered as it is just bellow the grill (again water and heat).

Thanks for sharing any experience or suggestion.

the SIDC faq mentions that this might cause heat soak problems, but the people I've talked to who've run thier cars without the blanking plates have had no such problems.

Some people suggest that you might want to put something over the battery to stop corrosion, so maybe a medium sized mesh, plus with the cone filter that will stop any bits dropping down there.

What I've done on the blackbeast (MY94 WRX Wagon) is to remove the plates AND the vents, and replace them with some additional scoops where the vents were. This stops stuff dropping down through the fish gills, plus it looks kinda groovy. I have an HKS induction kit so it also helps feed a little more air to it as well.

I have some pics of the scoops in place, plus shots of how they are connected to the bonnet, on my website.
