Hi all,
Only a minor prob at the moment but my idle speed is a bit low and fluctuates, and it also has tried to stall a couple of times at idle / when pulling to a stop.
When I had my MY99 Uk, a new MAF sensor fixed it. Just wanted to check if this is the problem? heck with Bob and he suggested cleaning it, which I will do.
Any other ideas, lambda, ISCV.
Car is standard, and no rude boy dump valve...

Sticking idle control valve (remove lid to check it turns freely)
Vac leak between engine and throttle body
Air leak between MAF sensor and throttle body
check those htings out first would be my advice

Thanks a lot pavlo, will do. Where does the ISCV live?
Am I right in saying the MAF on these is pretty strong compared to MY99/00

The ISCV is the blob on the back of the inlet manifold, pass side. It normally has a light brown top, held on by 2 screws, if removed, just make sure it's put back in the same place (is slightly adjustable).
Yes the MAF is very robust compared to the phase 2 version.

Any other ideas?
Can find any obvious leaks - but not cleaned the MAF or ISCV yet. Spent the day polishing

I had an MY97 MAF fail. Symptoms were similar, but I also found I was cleaning the plugs every 3000 miles as it was overfuelling at low loads and idle. Also got a stutter at about 5000 rpm high load.
Rear two cylinder plugs were always sooty black but other two were quite clean.
Swapped MAF with s/hand one from gradea subaru (£85 - for a purple lablled one).
Fine since then and confirmed on RR.

Thanks for that people.
I think the consumption is pretty good so possibly not the MAF? Going to check again for leaks, if its not that ots going to Power Engineering for a look see. They were very good last time I used them on my mY99.
