My neighbour, (Thanks to me ) got "Chips Away" to fix a similar size problem on a metallic light green Astra's plastic bumper. Great job, totally invisible...£40 !!

Nice.

Brendan,

I was a plonker and scraped my DBM bumper against a wall... The touch up paint makes it look worse as it's very thick and slightly too dark.

I'll be trying a "chip away" franchise when it bothers me enough.

Nick.

HI Brendan
something similar happened to me over christmas (not my fault) £173 for a full respray of the rear bumper, a bit dear but these guys have done work for me before and they are excellent! (going to get them to paint the silly orange yellow vents in the front bumper too, but I'm unsure if I should do it body colour or black. Your thoughts please?)

Black, although I suppose it depends on the colour of your car?

Look at Andy Tangs

Suggest you do these yourself rather than pay the dealer

Brendan,

I had a similar scrape on the rear bumper of my WRX MY96. The colour is a DBM described by Subaru as Cosmic Mica Blue - code 81b. You can find the paint code on the VIN plate. As the front lip spoiler had a lot of stone chips, I got both resprayed for just over £200.

Nick,

I agree the touch up paint is too thick and so looks darker when applied. When I got the bumper and front lip spoiler resprayed, I asked the body shop to give me the paint left over from the job. They mix up a small quantity to the paint code and there is usually some left over, which they would otherwise throw away. This is much thinner than the touch up paint. Keep it a sealed jar and apply it with a thin stick. It is much better than the touch up paint supplied by Subaru.

Yeap the bumpers are black, but that was due to a parking incident!! The accident took off more paint, but it's definately black!!!

At least the bumper is being completely resprayed!

Red face

My wife managed to scrape her Fiestas colour coded bumper during the recent icy weather after a bump in the recent icey weather , it was down to grey plastic. A chap at work recommended a local garage called fix a chip that all the franchised dealers use. £40 seemed pretty good, and they did an excellent job. He said the same work would have cost £150 from a ford dealer!
