You know your car is overboosting when you appear to hit a wall while under hard acceleration. There is momentary loss of power than it comes back on again. It can be quite unnerving.
The most common cause of this seems to be oil contamination of the wastegate solenoid which you can clean out with brake cleaner. There may be other causes as well though.
Dunno about over fuelling though, I guess that means lots of flames if you've got a cat-less exhaust!

Overboost is where the engine has more boost than intended momentarily.

The fuel cut is part of the ECU which shuts down the engine momentarily when excess boost is detected. This safety limiter is there to prevent large amounts of boost damaging the engine and is set a fair bit higher than standard boost levels.

Overfuelling "or richness" is the ratio of air to fuel is too low (less air/more petrol) - limiting power and increasing fuel consumption. The only way this can be tested is at a specialist with professional equipment.

Thanks

Gavin

Munna,

Hi mate, how you doing, glad to see you've joined the Scoobynet community.

Sorry I didn't manage to keep up on Wednesday morning going through Carlisle but I was taking the parents to the station so I was in go slow mode.

Mark,

You know me mate. Just cruise around, windows down, shades on, listening to my engine

Oh and sometimes I show people what 120 feels like coz their cars can't manage to go that fast

Munna,

I know what you mean about slower cars, no respect eh The ones who really wind me up are those that sit right up behind you. Never mind I'm saving for the full decat exhaust to sort that problem out

Catch you later mate.

The early Legacy Twin Turbos had a problem with the primary turbo overboosting when the exhaust was opened up..
Was a big power loss between the 2 turbos..

Un-nerving when driving and passing a truck or something large!
