Question

I've recently got my first Impreza (UK MY00)and yes its quick but it has some things missing that annoy me, specifically the lack of heated mirrors, no adjustment of the dash lights and no rear wiper.

Does anyone know if I can fit heated mirrors from another Subaru or get them from another source

Thanks

Talking

Try RainX on the rear windows and side mirrors. Works a treat.

Tried that, not ideal. I just think that these sort of things should be standard on what is a 22K car. My wifes Honda has it as does my Porsche.

Anyway...got to save up for the Leda B suspension from Scoobysport to sort the cr*p handling. :-(

So does my mum's 406 but then again I know which car i'd rather drive

Anyways, I take your point. These sorts of little tweaks should be standard these days...especially on the premium prices charged in the UK.....

Question

Forrester mirrors are heated and look the same but my dealer says they can't be fitted.
Does anybody know better?

I suppose my point is that its a expensive car with very few frills. The Jap spec cars get a rear wash/wipe, do IM think that us Brits don't need to look behind ? Strikes me that the UK cars are poverty spec and high price. I didn't get a discount (OK they've got a waiting list) and they (Lancaster Sevenoaks) wouldn't even throw in a set of Subaru mats. I think that I need to give up computer contracting and be a Subaru dealer, there's more money in it.

On the positive side, I love the grip levels and the performance isn't bad.

On the negative side the handling and ride is seriously sub standard and the fuel economy is highway robbery. The spec isn't up to much (what no boost gauge !). My 14 year old Porsche is quicker, handles better and uses less fuel.

But its still the best 22K car you can buy, I just feel slightly ripped off.

Pure guesswork here, but the Impreza owner's manual (yes, I read it - how sad?) refers to heated mirrors for some markets, running off the same circuit as the rear demister. As the Forester is based on the Impreza anyway, I can't imagine that those heated mirrors are from a different parts bin - we are talking Subaru here, after all. Your car is probably wired up for them too, saves on production costs if the wiring looms are common for various specs, so it may be worth tracing the electric mirror adjustment loom and seeing if you find a spare connector along the way that's live when the demister's on. Or tracking down a wiring diagram, obviously.....

Thumbs down

There's no wiring for the heated mirrors that I could see when I had the door panels off fitting speakers... (MY00)

Yep, count me in on the slightly miffed on that one - the Dutch manual says that I have them!

Jeff

For £22k you should have got an STiv5 nearly new (or brand new come to think of it...)

rear wash wipe standard
climate control standard
& 280bhp - more than enough to keep up with most Porsches...
