The "thin" 0w/?? version of RS is thinner than ideal for Subaru turbo engines. The 10w/60 version, as mentioned by Andy, is very good.

BTW, XXGO, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect folk to use the Search button, especially for questions that you know have been asked "1000's" of times before.

It's there to save us answering the same boring questions all the time, and to enable you to get answers quicker than posting a question yourself and waiting for someone to reply.

I just tried it to search on Castrol RS, and got an answer to your question straight away - took all of 10 seconds.

F.A.O Mr Monkey.....I agree with your post on searching.....

But i have mailed the mods and posted on the policy section a problem i have doing the search...which i agree would be much easier......

I use an Applemac to search the web and when i click on the search button it asks me to log in...(already logged in) i then click on search and once again it asks me to log in.....(i have my cookies enabled)

I still currently waiting to hear from techy support as to the way forward,,,,,

Conclusion.....

Very sorry to be wasting everybodies time with silly questions already asked...but i have no alternative

thankyou kindly for answering my questions though...it's appreciated

Phil

No worries Phil, thanks for the clarification and apologies for the sermon which, in light of current knowledge, was unwarranted. Seen people just being plain lazy so many times that it's all too easy to jump to conclusions! Hope you get the cookie problem sorted out.

Darren, yes, using a thicker oil probably will quieten it down, and as your current fill's been in 3K miles, you're coming up on change time anyway. As per the usual Scoobynet mantra, use either the Castrol 10/60, Mobil 1 Motorsport 15/50 or Motul 300V 15/50 for best results.

The other thing being that if no one posted and just used search we would not have anything to reply to

Rob.

We'd still get all the questions that don't get asked millions of times!
