Some **** scratch my bonnet - it basically needs a respray. I have a silver MY98. The bodyshop guy said they'll take the dent out, respray the whole bonnet and blend the colour in on the wings.

The quote was for £300 plus VAT and materials (around £80 he said).

Is this about right, or am I being shafted? I'm really worried that it'll be noticeable? Are bonnet respray usually noticeable?

Regards
James

I had some bodywork done on my car.
Used a garage, by recommendation, who use ultra-violet light instead of an oven to dry the paint. They are located in Bagshot and work is excellent.

Lee - The scratch is on front right of the bonnet close to the leading edge (ie, on the curve). Its an inch long, 5mm wide and down to the metal. Also has a dent because of the impact.

Oh Lee, you've gone and got me all worried now

My problem is that this is the bodyshop used by the dealer I bought my car off. As well as the scratch on the bonnet, there is a slight kink in the front left wing (done I think during a service). This work the dealer is paying for.

The bodyshop have said because they doing both pieces off work they can more easily blend the bonnet in with the wings. Does this make sense or are they talking *ollocks??

James,

My brother who runs a bodyshop is coming round tomorrow night.

I'll describe the damage to him and show him on my car and see what he says. I'll let you know at Slough tomorrow night (that's if you're not taking on all the Cossies, Golfs etc).

Must dash

Regards

Lee - Aawww - I knew youd'd say that, you've gone and got me all depressed now. Must say though, that I showed bonnet problem to the bodywork guy and got the quote before even mentioning the problem with the wing.

Ian - Now you tell me!!!!!! I'm sure I'll find time between golf's, cossie's, TVR's, Ferraris and McLaren F1's.

See ya tomorrow.

Regards
James
