Question

Just noticed a puddle under the car when I stopped for a few minutes. Feels and looks like water with no smell. I've checked all fluid levels and there all OK.

Its a hot day and the air con has been on for about an hour or so, does codensation bulid up, i.e. hot air out side and cool air inside?

The fluid seems to be coming from a small pipe about 5 inches long that comes out of the bulk head on the passengers side. It faces down to the floor and almost looks as if its an overflow pipe or something.

Anybody seen this before??

Cool

Doug

Dont fret. Its the outlet from the a/c unit that also de-humidifies the air as well - hence water - apparently. I saw it too and was worried but its all normal !

If there are excessive amounts of water coming out, then have the system checked.

Thanks guys,

I've just found a small puddle for the first time today. I'd never seen it on the Impreza before but had on a Volvo with air-con. You've all put my mind at rest.

Now to sort out that leaky power steering reservoir 8-(

The leaky power steering tank is a feature!!!

There seems to be alot of cars that do it mine included it tends to only really show itself when the car is driven hard such as at track days and the best guesses I have heard as to what is causing it is that the power steering fluid is getting very hot and expanding and blowing some oil past the seals when it does it. I dont mind if that is the case as I dont fancy the system blowing a hose off!

The seals have gone, so a new one is on order and will be replaced next week.
