How far on a full tank in a standard UK Impreza and SUL?
Just wondered how far I'd expect to get on a full tank of fuel in an standard UK spec Impreza. I used to have a GTIR which at best managed 240 mostly motorway miles.
Also, does a UK car still have to be run on SUL? The closest Shell garage is about 30 miles away but one or two garages here sell SUL. I'd prefer to use SUL but if in an emergency could I put a tenners worth in to get me to a SUL supply?
A Uk motor will "run" on normal unleaded, but you will definately notice the lack of response and performance. Its not the best fuel to run them on and does not really let the engine run at optimum levels by doing so, but "if needs must", its ok short term nly but preferably not by the tankfull.
SUL may be slightly more costly, but the performance makes up for it.

My UK MY01 in fairly standard form (decent exhaust and a few other minor bits fitted) will average around 240 miles between fill ups using Optimax or SUL. Thats a normal weekday mix of motorway /A road and town driving. That isn't running it dry by any means (although I do take the petrol gauge readings with a pinch of salt
). This hasn't really varied from the time I've had the car. The best I've seen is after constant motorway driving (steady speeds, no harsh acceleration) was around 320.

By the way we was tottling round windy mere while there on that tank of SUL so the last bit was town and small b roads driving.

How much do any of you get on total urban city driving, short stops, stop and go traffic?
I got a JDM Forester that seems reasonable economy on highway runs and absolutely ****e ~160 miles when i do a whole tank running around in the city, traffic, errands, all that.

I managed just over 300, with mostly motorway, taking it fairly easy - only the odd spurt over 100 whatsits.
Normally though, with short journeys to and from work, I get between 220 and 260.
MY98 wagon.

I generally get about 240-250 knocking about town etc in MY99 with decat and blitz induction kit, how big is the fuel tank on these as the fuel gauge seems like it could be a bit out??? When i fill up i need about 45litres??????
I've just started logging my miles in excel after these scare stories about mpg and the cost of SUL (used 95 in my old car)
Currently after 3 fill ups, I'm bang on 30mpg for the work run, mostly A roads with a bit of motorway at the end. Thats average of 260 miles for 40-ish litres. So thats not nearly empty at all - just filling up once a week.
