I was having some fun on the track yesterday and have noticed a strange phenomenon; I was not able to reverse in high speeds. When reaching 40mph or so the reverse gear jummped into neutral making a loud clank. Is this some kind of protection mechanism or do I have a problem? has anyone experienced this before?

Hi I experienced this also.

I thought I'd broke something.

I've since done 3000 miles with no problems so I guess it's just a 'feature'.

Regards,

Ian.

THE GEARBOX HAS A CENTFIFUGAL REVERSE LASH WINDING THAT GETS TO MAXIMUM LOAD AND RELEASES THE TORSIONAL OFFSET SPIGOT THROUGH THE CENTRE DIFF.
NATURALLY OVER USE OF THIS SAFETY FEATURE CAN CAUSE PERMANENT DAMAGE TO THE PILLOCK PILE LOCATED IN THE DRIVING SEAT.

Hands up all those who have reversed at more than 10 miles an hour?

Why?
