I have a 95 Scooby on an 'M' with a problem and i want to know if anyone knows what it is as its frustrating...

When its cold for example in the morning or first start its running like a bag of ****. It Mis-fires, ticks over too low and is cutting out...

Any ideas guys? i would be most grateful for any help at all as i would rather go to a garage and tell them whats wrong to save me money...

Unless anyone from Tyne Tees wants a govey job? will be happy to whatever....

Thanks.,

Could possibly be a few things, but might suggest the "MAF" sensor, as you say it runs uneven and tickover is lumpy. Otherwise possibly loosing spark via leads or coil towers.
Unless you can get someone with similar motor you can try swopping a few bits over, not much chance other than garage job.

get someone to do an ECU reset for you and see if it comes up with any fault codes first.

Details of how to do a reset are on www.mrtrally.com.au

Cheers

Sol

check out the thread yesterday from absolute showers,
misfire in 1st,3rd 4th he and I had same thing he's had the
o2 sensor changed and it's sorted - me next.

That is before you check plugs coils etc.
Apparently on cold start the o2 sensor effects tick over especialy
below 2000 revs then as the car warms it has less efect or above 2000
revs.

Coil packs.. they deteriate over time.. changed mine at 108k I thinnk it was.. but time does them in too.. they are £50 each..
I had same problem, replaced one and it ran so much better but still with the faults.. so replaced the other 3 and it went like crazy and missfire solved etc..
