MY98-8000MLS

Still thinking of an exhaust and filter.Given up on the janspeed, enlighten me please as to the difference between the SCOOBYSPORT item with a RAMAIR or K&N or the MAGNEX item with either of the same filters. I'm not expecting huge differences in power but am curious to know the change in drivability.

I can only speak for what I have got. I recently fitted the Scoobysport and Ramair filter. The first thing you notice apart from the amazing sound is a bit more torque low down. The car feels as if it revs easier. It is not an in your face change but more in a diffrent feel to the car. I'm really pleased with it.
I have a MY98 @ 5500 miles.

Gents
Does the exhaust and filter void your three year manufacturer's warranty. I have just spoken to my dealer about fitting a Scooby Back Box and filter, and he says the warranty will be void. I have a MY97 Turbo, older than both of yours. Have you lost your warranties, or is my dealer behind the times?

If in doubt phone Subaru UK direct. As far as I am aware it is fine to fit the ScoobySport exhaust as it is of similar/higher quality than the factory fitted one.

The warranty issue was a hot potato that I swithered with. My dealer is of the opinion that only the exhaust warrenty is void. 'You cannot expect IM to replace your Scoobysport' was what he said. 'Fair enough' was what I said. It will not effect the rest of your warranty. Remember a lot of dealers fit these as part of an aftersales upgrade.

I too have a MY98 Turbo with 4,000 miles.
I fitted a Magnex back box and Ramair filter.
Problem was I did it just after I took delivery of the car so I can't comment on any differences. Don't get the oval Magnex get the 3.5" round from Road Runner who are advertised in Car & Car conversions. They are the only people who can supply the round version. It looks much better, is well made and more importantly sounds great and I think its a little cheaper than the ScoobySport. I'm really pleased with mine.

Whenever you car goes near the garage remove the exhaust and the air filter...

Aside: isn't the Ramair filter Subaru-approved?

The Ramair is Subaru approved as it is part of the Prodrive performance upgrade.

I know where to get the ScoobySport Exhaust (obvious!!) but where does one get the RamAir filter from. Is it difficult to fit?

Gents,

Can we get a definative answer on wether the ramair filter and scoobysport exhaust invalidate the warranty from someone like JohnS or the Subaru Manchester lads as this question seems to get asked time and time again. Also could we find out what bits overall Subaru will allow you to fit to your pride and joy without invalidating the warranty and get them put on the next version of the FAQ?

I have looked into this closely with dealers, Scoobysport & Subaru.

The Scoobysport exhaust will void the warranty on the remaining part of the exhaust & the engine. It will be up to you (the punter) to argue the warranty case in court against Subaru UK.

I do not know about the Ramair filter.

I've put some of my thoughts on at "VOID WARRANTIES" and "How loud is..." on the General page.

Adam Curtin wrote a simple guide to the warranty sutuation, on the faq. www.sidc.co.uk/faq

Thanks for the order TC.

Pete
