Are you sure the catch on the boot lock has not been moved (the one that disables the boot catch). I leave this disabled anyway for security reasons.
Why should the immobiliser be causing you a problem (do you normally leave your engine running while using the boot?).

Mechanical trivia: the floor boot catch on the driver's side expired this morning. Anyone else get this? (9K on clock)?

It's irritating as I need the ignition key to open up the boot and the immobiliser kicks in 15 seconds after turning off the ignition.

Solution: strangely enough, fix the catch ;-)

ah ha. thanks, didn't know u could do this: must have disabled it without knowing!

boot open, engine on? dropping off people with bags, getting shopping out of the car when i can't park outside the flat because of the 13 BT vans that park in our road, having to stop to tell the two hostages to shut up. all sorts. ;-)

You get 2 hostages in the boot of a 4-dr?

I thought you'd stopped kidnapping the vertically challenged....

yup - lancer evo drivers.

thanks richard: it was in fact the able/disable switch in the boot lid. i'd obviously knocked it into the disable position accidentally.

well, i've only had it six weeks...
