I've got a problem with my 98MY Turbo fitted with the STi quickshift jumping out of gear. The problem is worse in 2nd and 3rd gears and it can be alarming to find myself in neutral whilst cornering. My dealer has told me they have tightened the linkage but the problem still exists and I'm disappointed with their attitude considering the safety issue. Any advice?

I have a MY98 UK Turbo which regularly jumps out of first gear when on a trailing throttle. The car is to get a modification fitted to the gearbox under warranty as there is apparently a known problem with some of the MY98 gearboxes. I have the standard shift and the problem on my gearbox only exists in first gear - I don't know whether this is the same problem that you're having but it might be worth mentioning to your dealer.

I agree with Neil. The problem is more likely to be the gearbox than the linkage given the symptoms you describe.
