I've gotten I problem...
On the way on the motorway (home from work) my car has developed a strange problem in 5th Gear. Basically if I put my foot down at 3,500 revs the is a massive jerk (its not the turbo) and the engine seems to cut.... the power comes back and then it cuts again.
No check engine light... and the car revs normally in all other gears.
Its a MY97 'R' plate with 20K on the clock with FSH. Dealer is closed... can you guys help me to decide if its safe to drive.
Thanks Guys
Ian

I've just been out to show a friend the problem and it now appears to happen In other gears at random times... Engine is sounding fine and temp is normal.
Is there a relay or sensor for the turbo which may cut the turbo if the boost pressure is too high ???
Could it be a fuel starvation problem (i.e dicky fuel pump - I guess its all pressurised)
I only happens after the turbo has spun up (i.e between 3 and 4,000 rpm)
Would you expect these problems from a car that is just 1 year old with FSH and no Engine mods (to my and the dealers knowledge)
Thanks for your help (yet again)

SPEEDRAT,
read the FAQ document and the section describing the Waste Gate Selenoid (3.2) sounds like my problem... I'll go to a dealer today and get them to clean it out/replace the sensor.
