cam belt pully rattling after rebuild

hi all
any one heard of a cam pully coming loose and making it rattle like a tappet but comes and goes this is what i have been told by my spaner
as there plastic he said cant over tighten them but the engine is not back in yet after he pulled it out to see what the problem was
time will tell if its that after all when he puts it back in .
so anyone ells had this problem

never heard of it but there is a metal insert in the pullys and they are torqued to 70nm i think

According to the Subaru manual the cam pulleys are torque'd to 39nm

Unlikely a pulley.. But if its coming from the nearside front of the engine..
It is likely that the cambelt tensioner is shot..
Very common problem, and it does exactly as you have described..

I had the same problem after a 6k rebuild, it lasted 3 weeks before it gave way and bent 11 valves.

actually caz our workshop manual says 78nm +- 5nm

it is back now and its gone what ever it was

ar well mind its still cutting out when it drops to tickover it is a pain dip the clutch she stales revit up it stals
any ideas i have tried new plugs maf leads its running smooth but fuxxxxx cuting out arrrrrrrrrrrr

According to my book

LH & RH sprockets 39nm (which I'd refer to as the cam pulley plus these are the only plastic pulley's too)
Belt Idler No.2 78nm
Belt Idler 78nm
Crankshaft pulley 98nm

must be a printing error somewhere as theres two separate dealers with exactly the same torque. so unless subaru printed them two wrong i dont no
