Forge vta dump valve question
I'm going to buy a second hand forge vent to atmosphere dump valve this weekend via the post, and just wondering if theres any common faults with them? Or if there is anything on them that busts and cant be replaced? Thanx
Subarujimmy, I have a forge on my MY00 and have had it on for about 2 years now.
The only thing i'd suggest is to keep an allen key and a spare return spring in the car somewhere.
The valve consists of a casing, a pressure spring (Different colours indicate different strengths
Red (Soft = fluttery sound, not very loud)
Blue (Intermediate, crisp sound, not too loud, but turns heads
) and
Yellow (Stiff, Crisp and loud, but only operates at higher boost levels)
The actual piston, a return spring and a seating grommit.
In the two years that I have had mine, the return spring has snapped twice. Not a massive problem in itself, it just means that your car will want to stall and the amount of fuel being thrown into the engine is mad (Massive pops, bangs flames etc
) It's ok when on the move but around town in stop start traffic, it's a bit embarrasing
It takes about two minutes at the roadside to fix it
Apart from that , I have had NO problems with the forge, none of the erratic idle issues or anything else.
Forge have always been brilliant, phone them and they send stuff that arrives next day usually without charge.
