Wink

I did this ages ago...I'm using a K&N 57i induction kit. Not sure about the bit about the turbo spooling up earlier. I put an aluminium duct in place of the resonator to get better airflow to the intake...Sound of induction kit overides sound of turbo...

Just be wear of extra **** that can now come through the front of the car and into the air filter compartment...

well..did the job..and must admit it does sound really sweet.. at about 2250 rev you her a the slight , faint whistle of the turbo picking up..

it seems to have stopped the probnlem i was having , of slight lumpyness/ hesitation , it feels much smoother

will let you know more after i've been on a proper run tomorrow ( gonna keep an eye on that MAF tho)

Question

I think MRT do something like this and it requires an ECU remap due to the massively increased amount of airflowing in (with an induction kit). Anyone?

I cut the top off my resonator so that the two pipes that come through the inner wing were still joined together by the piece that has the fixing bolt in it. A slot was cut in the joining piece beside the pipe that goes into the air box so that a jubilee clip could be fitted round it. The assembly could then be replaced on the car and everything under the bonnet went back as standard. The pipe going into the airbox then had a piece of ducting attached to it held on by a jubilee clip (hence the slot mentioned above) and this was fed into the area behind the bumper giving me a cold air feed to the air box but with standard appearance. The cost was nil as I already had a piece of ducting lying around. It sounds a bit complicated but is self explanatory if you come to do it. Sorry, no pics.

similar to what i have done..

the problem i've got at the moment is that the CEL light has come on..must be due to increased air flow, so i want to reset the ECU.

but... i have a superchip on my 2001 WRX Bugeye.. will an ECU reset **** it up ???

and 2nd.. how the hell do i do an ECU reset on my car ?? I left the battery negative off for 2 1/2 hours tonight, started it up and let it run till the fasns came on and went off again..

but still the CEL is on..
