??GPL instalation in Impreza WRX (combi)??
#1
Hi everyone
Before going mad at me...plize... read all anda then after that reply at ever you want.
First of all I want to say HI... I´m from Portugal , my Name is fLAVIO...and like you I like very much the Subaru car´s.
I love the WRX combi Black... I love it all...but...I is emotional..
not using the head..only the heart.
I make about 35K Km/year... of course that a Diesel Engine...was perfect for me (I have a Golf IV TDI 150bhp)... but I seriously thinking about the Impreza combi that I saw in a Track day here in Estoril near Lisbon.
since then... "she" can´t get out of my head.
so I was thinking ...since Subaru have some models Bi-fuel (GPL)
,..if there is a chance that I can instal GPL in the combi WRX (the costs of 1 liter is half price).
and for me the consumption of the WRX is excessively high.. even I read that the model 2003 is about 10 or 15% less greedy in fuel.
I though also putting a Fuel Saver like "prozone"... or something.
but the perfect solution was the GPL system installed...and safe for me to ride with it.
Does someone knows about something...or am I the only person...that dare to thinkabout the possibility of that modification.
even if that sound unbelievable...to you.
I´am trying to search a solution for me to get that Blackie Combi for me.
In the winter I go abouttwice a month snowboarding...and make at least 1500km in a week-end.
and for "cruising" its expensive... balancing with a Diesel engine..or GPL.
is there some things that I have to look for first? (plize not a Shrink...ehehheheheh )
or suggestion...
for teh cruising..GPL.... for the fun... Fuel and have the 225bhp all ready for me.
that´s all folks...
Now... I will wait for teh virtual slap´s... os this thread
take care

(sorry for a so long text)

the economy that´s what I´m looking for when I go for week-ends journey.
But in the 2003 WRX model... is it possible to install?
is it to much to ask... but... could you inquiry where you install your LPG system. and tell me the answer.. what ever it is.
did you lost the Subaru factory warranty?
thnx for replied... (I confess that I was afraid that Subaru "extremist" call me crazy or something.

ok... do you know any contact of a very good LPG installer?
(e-mail...for example)
here in Portugal ...we have benifit in taxes in the car...
only you buy it with the Bi-fuel homologation directly.
and it will pay the install.... and then the economy pay for it self.

I would be very careful fitting LPG to a turbo car, make sure the installer is 100% confident. The engine needs to be fed a rich mixture when on boost to keep charge temps down, get this wrong and the engine might go bang.
Also the multi-point injection is likely to be expensive to fit on the boxer engine.

does anyone...knows a LPG installer ultra confident... who I may ask some questions?
but I see (even here in Portugal) Lancia thema turbo, Volvo 850 t-5, Saab 9000 turbo,Alfa 164 v6 turbo, kappas 2.0 turbo, and other cars like thoses with LPG installed, and they are also Turbo cars and all 2.0L and 2.3L with 200 and more Bhp.
Ok... none are Boxster engine...
But Subaru... have an Impreza "No-Turbo" 2.0L Bi-fuel (click above Italian site)
http://www.subaru.it/subaru/modelli/n_impreza/bi_fuel/index2.html
so... I must talk...to an expert LPG...
I don t want to spend 35000€ for nothing... (I rather stay still with my Golf TDI 150Bhp)
thnx to everyone.
and keep me informed... with all you knowledge about the subject.

the boxer engine should not make any difference my car runs a little rich all the time just to be safe.
lpg is a dry fuel so bore wash should not be a problem running rich
even running rich you will still save money and if you tune the engine it will be easier to alter settings to suit no remaps etc
