hmm.. dont assume that about the autronics..
I believe im one of the only ones on this board to be using it.. I am also probably the only one to be using the SM2.
AntiLag
Traction Control
Launch Control
FlatShifting
8 Injectors
8 ignition Outputs..
A small hp engine for autronics is over 800hp.
have a look on mlr, plenty of evo's use them (pnp boards IRC)
if you are 99 - 00 then they do a pnp board for your year.. They also mention one for the newer ones on the site.
Mark Shead at MADevelopments is the UK importer.. Top Service..
Its also not the same as the motec..
Mail me if you want specifics... or pics

Need some advice on which ECU is the best for my STI8
Currently running PPP but had many mods done and need a better ECU to control them. Heard the MOTEC is a rip off as the Autronics is much the same heard the ECU-TEK is a gem. Is anyone out there running with this.
Cheers
Jimbo

Which, EcuTek or the others?
Assuming you mean EcuTek - then it's as good as the mapper. It's just a bit of software that allows reprogramming of the existing ECU. You can get a "one size fits all" enhanced map called a Tek-2, or a completely custom map ("Tek-3").
The "Tek-2" map takes no time at all to install and is appropriate for cars with average modifications (exhaust, air filter).
The custom map involves adjustment of a base map so it takes best (safe) advantage of your own car's specification. It requires more of the mapper's time, and is therefore more expensive.

Some links to documentation and/or demo software for several ECUs. Happy reading.
The spec of your car is vitally important - there is rarely a free lunch on power and torque without sacrificing emissions compliance, reliability, fuel octane restrictions, extensively modifying the breathing and cooling of the car, as well as using an adequately sized turbo.

Motec are an excellent ECu as stated above, there is also the GEMS ecu which also has a very good reputation.
Both are expensive but then again you pay for what you get

Do any of you guys know wether,
The chief technical design engineer for MOTEC, went it solo and created Autronics,
does this rumour carry any weight
also quick note what about LINK ecu's or one of the re-maps by powerstation,

Jimbo you already have an ECU programmed like this. All that will happen is that you could get it custom mapped to further modifications on your car - if so it should behave like standard but be quicker. Personally if you are not doing other mods I would just keep your PPP and enjoy the warranty. Make a custom map or standalone ECU worthwhile by doing the supporting mods for it.

You have a full decat on an STi8?! BIG boost spikes me thinks
Get yourself some defi gauges and look what your doing to your car (which wont be covered by a warranty as Subaru UK now strip engines which blow to see what caused it).

nope he's got the guages in the car already and the max boost shown is 1.1 - 1.2 normal driving it sits around 0.5 and flooring it sits around 1.2 and tails back to 1.1 apart from when the BOV goes off and it hits 1.3 and comes back down again.
the car has been fine, he's been warming it up before driving and cools it down before turning it off it goes out only on Wednesday for a short run and then goes back to sleep and only come out on the weekends the IC spray is continuously going every few miles in the heat and the car is behaving as it should
