Before i purchased my car it was advertised as having a 'Prodrive Upgrade', now i presumed this to be the PPP and when going through the buying process no-one questioned me on the this presumption nor did the expert i had check the car over find anything untoward.
Now, i'd always thought that the PPP consisted of:
This raised some questions between myself, Russell and Martin about the likelyhood of the car actually having the full PPP. We later unearthed the ECU to find that it is Prodrive spec.... phew.
(btw, why is this badged STi?)
Never-the-less, this still leaves a question mark over why the centre section is still standard spec and also the intercooler hosing, were these items even part of the '98 PPP?
Upon consulting the SIDC FAQ i found this...
and this...
Did only MY99/00 cars get the IC hosing and the de-cat?
Hoping some past/present MY98 PPP owners will be able to shed some light...

Now, i'd always thought that the PPP consisted of:
- Free-flow (Ramair?) Panel Filter
- De-catted centre section + Prodrive BB
- Prodrive ECU
- Upgraded Intercooler Hosing

Prodrive offer a performance pack for the car, and depending on the model year comprises a Ramair air filter, stainless steel free flow exhaust, revised engine management system and Mintex brake pads (up to MY98).
For the MY99 cars onwards, they offer a similarly priced performance pack which adds a revised ECU, exhaust system and intercooler piping.
Hoping some past/present MY98 PPP owners will be able to shed some light...Carl

I also have MY98 PPP
I actually took it to Warwick to have it fitted and have the PPP certificate.
My car has NOT had the intercooler hosing or centre section changed. From memory it consisted of ECU, backbox, air filter and different brake pads.
hope that helps

That's also excellent to hear Robin, thank you. I shall have to check the air filter shortly as this is the one part (brakes pads are sure to have gone looong ago) that i am still unsure of.
Carl - not so worried about his car now.

PS Carl
If the car has since had the air filter changed at a service it may have had a standard one put back on.
I picked my car up from a service, noticed it was 'not quite right'
( to find they had put a standard air filter on. As you can imagine I was less than impressed! Apparently International Motors will no longer allow the fitment of the air filter panel used by Prodrive for the PPP.....
So you may have to get a filter from Scoobysport or similar to get that full PPP feeling back.
By the way the MY98 PPP responds VERY well to a decat
Regards

I actually nipped out and cracked the airbox open 10 mins ago. It's a green/blue coloured foam filter that is there and although i couldn't see exactly what kind (didn't want to get my hands too dirty
) i presume it is the one Prodrive intended.
When i had the car in for the 90,000 mile service i specified not to have the air filter changed, saved a few pennies because of it too.
Yes! I had a ported/polished H&S downpipe fitted on Thursday and it's great, soo much more responsive
, soo much more aurally entertaining
, just wish i'd had it done earlier. Was disappointed in finding out i didn't have the de-cat centre that day but am currently looking into a H&S centre to rectify that!
