Hope i dont get flamed for this, however i not mechanically minded.

i just went out and when i returned to the car noticed a pool of liquid on the floor.

uh-oh? leaks!

turns out it is coming from a pipe that sticks out of the bulk head on the right hand side of the engine. drips down onto the bottom tray.

what is this overflow pipe? is it something to do with the aircon. ( ihave never had aircon b4)

WHATS WRONG WITH MY BABY?

oh go on then i'll show you!!

Might be one of the coolant pipes have come off. On my 93 wrx there are two pipes that go through the bulk head which connect to the heater matrix. I don't know of any overflow pipes Can you post a pic of the pipe in question?

It could well be water coming from the air con unit. I had that on a previous car and it was considered normal behaviour.

Cactus,

Doh, I should really read the posts b4 I put a new one up 'cos I've just put up a new post for exactly the same thing as this on my MY00 UK turbo

I think it's an aircon overflow pipe but as I don't know how the aircon works I'm not sure if it's normal or not! There seems to be too much water coming out of it to me for it to be normal.

Sounds pretty much like "de-frost" water off the air con, this is normal.Their is no water in the system, only maintenance you can do is make sure the drivebelt is properly adjusted and if the system starts to be unable to bring the temperature down it will need re-charged with refigerant gas.If it,s working fine ,i.e keeping you nice and chilled then theres nothing to worry about.

your baby is ok m8 the pipe is the evaporator drain off pipe, where the evaporator gets so cold it produces water which then has to drain off somewhere which is the water u r seeing.

no problems.

How silly do I feel now I'll have to have a look and see if I can find the pipe in question in my scoob. I have AC but have never seen the pipe you have spoken about. Oh well, you learn something new everyday on scoobynet
