Has anyone used a charge cooler on a scoob, I want the cooling of an FMIC without the lag, i know about the heat problem but i don't need the car to do lap after lap of a tight circuit.

I've also heard of people getting up to 380bhp out of a topmount but obviously this comes at a lower boost with lower charge temps, and i want reliability. (i'm looking at 320bhp from uk internals, possibly more to come)

It's not a very common mod, but yes it has been done before... Its something that I am considering at the moment, as a cheaper alternative to a front mount. My main concern is its efficiency over a front mount on 40+ degree days...

There was a post a while ago with a whole heap of links that I saved (sorry don't know how to make them clickable)...

OK 40+ days don't come very often in scotland.

I expect a charge cooler wont be quite as good as a proper FMIC but i hope it can get the temp down to lower than an uprated TMIC without the lag of the front mount, which is my main concern.

If anyone has tried this info would be gratly appreciated.

Cheers.

Thumbs up

just take the charge cooler off the Legacy turbo - should go straight on, same engine, layout etc.

Lightbulb

although to make that system work alot better than your topmount you need to upgrade the water pump and fit a bigger radiator etc.
