You shouldnt need a CAT. Before my Scoob I had a MR2 Turbo on a 93-K Plate that was de-catted and when I asked they told me I didnt have to put it back on due to the age of the car.
Hope this helps!

I don't believe the law states "You must have a catylitic converter".
However, you must pass the required emission standards for the year of the car!! (This can be difficult if you have removed the cat(s)
)
I believe the emissions standards let you get away with a lot more for a 1991 car than a 1992 car... (or was it 1993? I can't remember!)

Rich,
I have a K plate Leggy.
I have a full decat and it does not require a cat.
The chap I go to did 'look it up in his MOT book', but as the car was not specifially referred to, it was classed as not requiring a 'cat MOT'....
I knew when I bought it it wouldn't need one and was suprised when he advised me it did....... but after looking in his books... I was right...
I'm happy!!

I had a look around a while back and I think you have to have a cat on UK cars after Aug/Sept 92 or imports after Aug/Sept 94. It's not just so your car can pass the emissions, you have to have a cat fitted.
