Bought some STI pedals over the weekend. From Graham Goode..very pleased. Fitted them all apart from the accelerator pedal.

the existing pedal is plastic with a pressed pin through the back alowing it to pivot on the pedal arm. i dont know exactly what to do to remove the pedal from the arm without breaking something. or if i'm even meant to remove the pedal at all and not just clamp the new one on top or somthing. cos the instructions are in japanese and i just hae a small diagram to work off.

can any of you peeps shed some light on my problem????

cheers.

D6.

I fitted these to my car, like this:

place the sti pedal over the existing accelerator pedal (no need to remove it)

push the long thin bolt through the new pedal and the pin in the existing pedal and through the other side of the new pedal, put the nut on and tighten up. You may have a bit of a battle getting it all to line up and getting the end of the bolt through the other side to put the nut on but it should work.

job done

I found it best (visualy anyway) to take off the alloy surround from the gas pedal so you dont see the silver edges when the new one is on.
Very tight fit as well have fun.

The new accelerator goes on over the existing plastic one. Its a very tight fit, and rather than messing around, battling with it for ages, I simply planed a small excess of plastic from the face of the o.e. pedal to make the pin locate easier. Nice and snug now.
Not exactly conventional, but it works. (Normal wood plane by the way!)
