Question

New guy. Hello, everyone.

Test drove a 39k MY99 with the above plus dump valve today, thinking of trading my std 66k MY97. Swear to god mine had more shove although the '99 definitely handled better. Pickup seemed 500 RPM later too. Why could this be?

Please treat me as an idiot and start from the beginning!

Steve.

Bog standard in every way. Had for 2 years. Boost comes with a rush at 3000 plus, tested car seemed more gentle & higher up the range?

Cheers
Steve

When you say full, do you mean both cats have been removed?

...er couldn't say about the cats. From the back there's one silencer, then another then disappears up into the heat shield (the solid bit that doesn't rot!)

I guess I'm not helping much!

When I bought my P1 it had a dp fitted. I finished it off with a scoobysport centre section and b/b. Now it feels as though I've lost power, believe me I'm thinking about putting the originals back on. But the power run is saying 310 bhp/280 lbft....seems I've lost power though Also had to fit a restrictor as it was hitting fuel cut.

Regards

Kev

Scoobykev, get it remapped. I had mine Tek 3ed by BRD after full decatting, not with an aim to get max power but more to ensure safety and get smoothness back that disappeared with the decatting. After Tek 3 much more solid wall of grunt all the way through with no flat spots.

Any more ideas? Could the dump valve be causing the extra lag / higher rev spool-up? Would removing it make things better?

dump valve should aid spool up as it releases back pressure in the turbo that causes the lag

pressure vented, turbo stays spooled up ergo no lag(read less lag)
