i was wondering if the jap engine power specs in the FAQ are accurate. i have been told that the MY95 WRX i have is only 240ps and not 260ps as i had thought. I have checked the site and my model number GC8C48D gives a figure of 260 PS. it still has the original EJ20 GDW4HE engine. can someone confirm that whether this is an open or closed block.

Finally are there plans to update the SIDC FAQ, and who is responsible for the updating of info?

The only information I heard is that the STI's had closed deck blocks but the Wrx's did not BS. I really can't be certain about that,information seems difficult to obtain for that time. Don't know about the BHP either. Yours is probably 260 ps though.

best way to tell is have a look at your ECU.

if it has Z4 stamped on it its 260ps

if it has W6 its 240ps

 

I thought the 95wrx does have closed decked blocks?

Put it on a rolling road mate and you will see. The few 95s around here all have 260. Dont think i have seen one with 240

 

a lot of the 93 cars have closed deck but i am yet to see a 95!
