Question for ecu boffins
#1
Is it possible to retrofit a MY99/00 ecu into a MY98 so we can take advantage of ecutek remapping rather than the expense of Link/Motec/Gems etc.
Presumably ecu uses same similar sensors etc. so it should be just a case of connecting up the right wires & remapping it.

Anything is possible.
The sensors are probably calibrated differently, have different ranges of operation etc, so it could end up a lot of work, however, none of it would be very difficult.
Maybe the sensors could be fitted as well so the ECU could talk to them correctly?
I've not had much to do with 97/98 cars, so I don't really know the differences. I do wonder how much you will save, considering the potential problems. However, if it works, you've solved the 97/98 ECU tuning difficulties we have. I'll defer to the judgement of someone who knows about the cars in question - I'm more into the pre-97s!
