Retro-fitting Aircon?
#1
Has anyone done this?
Besides getting it professionally re-gassed and leak tested - are there any other pitfalls to be aware of (Eg Lubrication) ?
Any practical experience or help would be gratefully received.

It's a pice of pish to fit just make sure you have got all the parts of the kit if buying seconhand.
Also depends on what year and if it's uk or jap import.
Basic stuf you need as follows
Pump and mounting bracket
Belt
4-5 Relays £45.00 or there abouts each from subaru new!!
Fron air con rad
Extra Fan for main Radiator
Scrubber Dryer
Pipework 4 bit's IIRC
Bulkhead pipe gromett and drain pipe
Internal matrix and housing 4 different types IIRC
The most importent Bit the dash board switch 3 different types
Hope this helps a bit I know as I done mine last year..MY95 UK

Check to see if the belts tight first, but if it needs a new clutch you might be in for some fun as you need some pully pulling gear to get the clutch off, or try your local service agent as they might be able to help there are lots of mobile people that should be able to fix it on site, look in the yello pages get a couple of quotes first.
Hope this hepls a bit

indeed it started after i had alternator & timing belt changed at service by specialist & they did loosen the belt a bit when i went back with noise but still does it, did also get the engine washed just b4 service n all so not sure if that might have any influence i take it there's no chance of just lubing the offending squeak without ballsing up the way the clutch bit works?
