Question

When people have been putting these clutches in do they buy them in a kit (CP2000-18) or do they get the pressure plate and clutch plate individually.
The reason i ask is because i purchased the kit but ended up being sent the two individual parts, pressure plate and clutch plate, and once fitted the car was suffering major juddering, the gearbox was removed (after about 20 miles!) and the clutch plate was goosed (burnt, loose fibres, deepish ruts) and there was burn marks on both the fly wheel and pressure plate.
The fly wheel was skimmed and checked prior to the clutch being fitted. A new release bearing was fitted.
Basically what im asking is does the clutch plate have to be matched to the pressure plate and hence put in a kit or is it ok to get the two parts individually as i did?
Has anyone else had a similar problem?

All input is greatfully received, xxx

2nd that mate, you can sometimes mix n match clutches as well so two seperate components shouldnt matter.
I removed an Organic AP from my car two days ago with about 2k milage on it... down to the rivets!!!!!!!!!

Will AP be paying for the labour then as 2000 miles is a bit poor isnt it?
As for mine it looks as though i have possibly been sent the wrong clutch plate, the clutch plate i had put in was placed in the same AP box as the pressure plate and was a daikin clutch plate with no part number which had 5 or 6 dual springs (AP apparantly dont use dual springs).
The replacement kit which i have been sent has the clutch plate in its own AP Racing box and is stamped Borg and Beck (AP) with the correct part number on it.

Can anyone confirm the above?

Question

No I Can't confirm that but can confuse the issue further !

I just posted this in reply to another thread claiming that AP clutches are made by Daiken -

-----------------------------------------------------------------
"So are the Exedy heavy duty STi replacement clutches, when I checked my Lateral Performance supplied unit it had exactly the same little "DK" trademark on it as my AP paddle clutch cover !!

I am told that one difference is the pressure plate pressure rating or leverage ratio however I measured everything I could get into with a micrometer and the spring was the same thickness as my original STi clutch.............which also had the "DK" stamp and was quite happy running 400+ bhp !

Has anyone fitted one of these and given it some abuse yet ??

Andy"

The pressure plate is made by Daikin or at least the housing is but the clutch plate is a mix of Borg and Beck (which is basically AP) and another make who make the inner of the clutch plate with the springs on.
