Cr4pped my pants the night

Switched on heater to clear window and..........."steam everywhere"

Windows fogged up worse than ever.Turned to cold then steam stopped!!Back to hot STEAM every where??

No sign of steam under bonnet

What could be the cause of this? Heater Matrix gone? How big a job is this? and has anyone else experienced this?

All help and advise please
