I'm getting the feeling my injectors might have been uprated at some point cos I'm seldom seeing the IDC go over 50% even on boost which seems to leave a lot of headroom.

Any of you boffins give a general formula to calculate what size the injectors will be if I know the IDC, RPM, boost pressure, and other necessary values (such as MAF voltage...)?

Out of curiosity more than anything but it also gives confidence to mod should I want to go for bigger power without needing to uprate the injectors.

I think your IDCs aren't correct then, because even with a standard UK car, you would need very big injectors not to hit 50%.

What car do you have, or if you replaced them, what make of injectors did you fit?

What are you using to monitor the IDC. Sounds to me as if it may be a case of the logger reporting the wrong information.

I'm no expert, but have been researching Injectors over the past couple of days, and something sounds fishy.

Any other mods? rough idle?

I'm using the diagnostic display thing Andrew C designed (basically like a SECS but not quite as fancy and it works for MY98 ECU). So it's displaying the info the ECU provides outta the diag port.

Maybe I'm not reading it properly, not actually logging at the moment just reading it off the display so I'll give it another go and confirm.

How can I tell injector colour, can they be seen without removing them from the heads?

Paul, you should be able to see about 1/2 of the tops of the injectors where they go into the fuel rails and are connected to the signal wires...

OK I made a mistake done another run and managed to get it up to 71% in 4th gear at WOT and around 6k RPM. So will still go a bit higher in 5th at the redline but obviously with that being around 160MPH I ain't gonna try

Had a look at the injectors but can't see any colour on them, maybe cos they are really dirty. Will try and give them a wipe and look again.
