Hi,

Has anyone on here done a straight swap with their origional MY 98 intercooler for the one from a Sti V3/4. I am thinking of doing this myself and after some opinions. Would the boost increase by doing this?

The main affect will not come from the intercooler but from the Y pipe that they use.
It's much less restrictive and will help boost, mine went from 0.95 to 1.1 peak.
The intercooler itself is no bigger apart from a tiny difference at the back but this would only account for about a 5% difference if that.
Anyway isn't my98 an sti 5 shape?

I must admit though its worth doing the hole lot and not just the pipe because it looks so much better and only takes 10 mins.

Does the held boost increase too, or is it just peak? It sounds like I could just change the Y pipe underneath then if I cant find a suitable Sti intercooler. Thanks for your help,

It peaks at 1.1 then tails to 0.97.

Is that right - MY99 = v4,
I've seen v4's with the same bumper as MY97 would have thought my99 to be v5!!!!!!

Can only speak for Aussie models, but should be the same the world over ...

MY99 = STi V5.
MY00 = STi V6.
