it could be the speed sensor on the box is unplugged/damaged wire etc, I think the sender goes to the dash and ECU on a scoob, so if the ECU is not seeing speed it may throw a check light and go into safe/get home mode. if there is a delimiter or mph/km/h converter fitted check it is okay.

Must be a fault with the speedo converter/cable as there aint much to it. We will fix that first. Is there anywhere on the net that you can download the flashcodes?

think you will find that its the steel section of the speedo cabel
i had one simmilar with a friend of mine and i got him the lower section and it cured the problem ...mail me and ill sort you one .....chris

Speed spensor is fault code 33
My 95wrx got the same prob, got it back from the garage yesterday speed sensor and cable cleaned and oiled okay for few hours and then it happened again. I think now i need a new cable and/or a new dash! Plus my car doesn't start!
