I've got a cold start problem - fans comes straight on with ignition and car then won't fire. I asume its the coolant temp sensor, but I want to check the error codes before buying a new one. I've seen the site which contains all the codes etc, but where is the plug in point for the ecu? Under the steering column has been mentioned but that is just a jumble of wires and an imposible angle to get at. Am I looking in the right place? Its a 95 uk model turbo, by the way.
When its replaced, do I need to reset the ECU and if so, is there a quick way eg disconnect the battery?

this is what happens when the temp sensor goes, the fans come on and it wont start. i also could not find the connectors tonight, but you must remove the panel under the steering wheel and peek up into the zillion wires that are revealed. its a couple of these, somewhere in the mess.

As my typing ability is limited and there is a lot to explain, if you are still stuck Saturday morning give me a ring. 07860 302020. Sorry I do not know the website address for an explanation of the ECU codes and reset method.

Bought the part from Subaru (£26 isn't too bad) just need to fit it! I've finally found where it is and it looks a right b$*!"rd to do. Still, it keeps me out of trouble. Had another look for the ecu connectors ad it'd take a bomb disposal expert to sort that lot out. Might just ask them to reset it at the next service.
