Just fitted HKS RS air filter, just wondering, where does the pipe go that comes off the rubber induction pipe, which is replaced by the alloy RS bit. The pipe goes to a cylinder near the air filter which has 3 pipes coming out of it, looks like some sort of vacuum hose? Bit cryptic I know but I don't know what all these things are called.

Cheers

Sparky.

I take it the rs kit doesn't have anywhere for it to go then, I have a HKS kit on mine (non rs) and it has a metal pipe for it to attatch to.

The pipe in question is the bled off air from the boost control solenoid, you could just tie the pipe up somewhere or take it off the boost solenoid

I stuck a screw in it and totally blocked it up, is this bad? I've only done like two miles since I fitted it.

you don't want it blocked up because like i said it's the bled off air from the solenoid it's supposed to be bled out from the pipe circuit between turbo and actuator using the boost solenoid to control amount of air bled off between the two thus controlling the boost level, you won't have done any harm so don't worry, was it slower?

just to check, you should have one pipe to the boost solenoid from the inlet compressor housing on the turbo, one pipe from the solenoid to the wastegate actuator and the pipe left should be the one to the standard inlet pipe that we are discussing?

i'd be inclined to just take it off the solenoid

Well coz I just put a HKS RS on it it seem a lot quicker! maybe it should be quicker still. I will unblock it, and yes it is the left pipe, which goes to the induction, I didn't notice where the other two went.

It doesn't only go to the induction though, it seems to have some sort of junction thing on it, and that goes down some where.

Mate this is the link pipe from the carbon canister through a rochester valve back into the induction system. - Confussed!!

OK Basically any air with a high emissions content will be pushed back into the airflow to take another trip around the engine to be cleaned. I have heard mixed reports as to whether this needs to be connected or not. In theroy you can just leave the pipe venting into the atmosphere as its only pushing air out not sucking it in.
