Last night when driving home i noticed my headlights going from normal brightness then going dim for a few seconds, i switched the ice off thinking this was causing the problem, but it carried on. When i got back to my garage i left the car ticking over and the revs wher unsteady as if a big load was being put on the alternator then being swithched off again in a regular pattern. I have a split charge system with a battery in the boot, could this be the problem or could it be a faulty alternator or could there be a large load going onto the alternator somewhere?? I have not had chance to check the ICE system for possible faults, but last night the amps did cut off then back on again as if an undervoltage problem. When this fault happens you can hear it on the amps like an alternator whine, like when switching the rear heated screen on and off, any help on this subjet would be greatly welcomed.
