Hi all.

I might be fitting a Brantz/Terratrip tripmeter to my scooby for recce'ing local car club events. The trip meter is more acurate and prevents argueing "that you speedo must be out!" by the competetors.

The unit fits on the plug of the electronic feed to the speedo and is a piggy back affair ( the original keeps working). Before i start does any genius out there:
a. Know where the connector is under the bonnet.
b. Know if I disconnect it will it bugger up my speedo setting.
c. Know if the speedo is buggered if the car is run even for a short distance with it disconnected...... I only ask incase I can't get the right Brantz connecter and have to bodgit it and if it disconnects whilst in motion.

any help/wiring diagrams would be appreciated.

Cheers Truckie

It plugs into the gearbox, access from under bonnett drivers side.
When you unplug and drive the check engine light will come on but no harm will be done.

Thanks Col

Is it connected to anything else on a multi plug or is it on its own?

If you run the car for too long with the cars speedo not working, then it will cause the check engine light to illuminate, and the car will start to run badly, with various side effects.
